Privacy Policy | Platform Hopper — AI Character Chat Reviews

The Short Version

Platform Hopper is a static website. I don't run a server, I don't have a database, and I don't want your personal information. The site uses your browser's local storage to save your reviews and preferences (that data stays on your device). I use a simple visitor counter and that's about it.

I review platforms that do collect data (that's literally the point of this site). My privacy practices are intentionally minimal so you can trust the source telling you about everyone else's.

What Data Is Collected

Your reviews	When you submit a review, it is stored in a database hosted by Supabase (cloud infrastructure on AWS). Your review text, screen name, star rating, and the platform you reviewed are stored. No email, IP address, or account is collected. You don't need an account to leave a review. A random session token is stored in your browser so you can delete your own reviews. Reviews are visible to all visitors.
Theme preference	Your chosen theme (Classic or Campfire) is saved in localStorage. Stays on your device.
Platform requests	When you submit a platform review request, it is stored in the same Supabase database. The platform name, any details you provide, and your screen name (if given) are stored. This information is used solely to decide which platforms to review next.
Visitor counter	The site uses counterapi.dev, a free third-party counter service, to track total page views. This sends a simple increment request: no personal information, no cookies, no tracking IDs. The counter is per-site, not per-user. See their privacy policy at counterapi.dev for details.
Vercel hosting	This site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs including IP addresses. See Vercel's privacy policy for details. I do not have access to these logs.
Google Fonts	The site loads the VT323 font from Google Fonts. Google may log this request. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

What I Don't Collect

No cookies

No analytics or tracking scripts

No ad networks, trackers, or forced advertising

Sponsor ads are opt-in only: you visit the Sponsors page on purpose

No email collection

No account system or login

No personal information collection

No data sold or shared with third parties

No fingerprinting or device identification

Your Browser's Local Storage

Platform Hopper uses your browser's localStorage API to save:

• ph-session: A random session token so you can delete your own reviews
• ph-theme: Your theme preference (classic or campfire)
• ph-reviews-cache: Cached copy of reviews for faster loading
• ph-visitor-count: Cached visitor count for display
• ph-counted (sessionStorage): Whether you've been counted this session

This data stays on your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings (Clear Site Data). Clearing it will reset your theme preference and your ability to delete reviews you've previously submitted (the reviews themselves remain in the database).

Children's Privacy

This site is intended for users aged 13 and older. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, this is largely a non-issue, but I want to be explicit about it.

Some platforms reviewed on this site are intended for users 18 and older. Platform Hopper clearly labels age requirements for each platform to help parents and guardians make informed decisions.

Third-Party Platforms

This site reviews and links to third-party AI chat platforms. Each of those platforms has its own privacy policy and data practices (which is exactly what this site helps you evaluate). I am not responsible for the data practices of any platform reviewed on this site.

When you click a link to a third-party platform, you are leaving Platform Hopper and are subject to that platform's terms and privacy policy.

Future Changes

If Platform Hopper adds a backend, user accounts, analytics, or any other feature that changes how data is handled, this privacy policy will be updated before those changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.

I am committed to keeping this site as privacy-respecting as possible. The whole point of reviewing other platforms' privacy practices would be pretty hollow if my own site was harvesting your data.
